Magma manufactures and supplies a wide range of ceramic catalyst media, suitable for a variety of applications.
Scientific research has proved that most catalyst reforming reactions occur within 0.01 – 0.05mm from the surface of the catalyst. It is clear that maximising the geometric surface area of the catalyst will increase catalytic activity. High geometric shapes not only have higher activity than conventional catalysts, they have lower pressure drop and equal or better heat transfer characteristics.
Magma has developed a novel technique for the production of ceramic catalyst products. This production technique offers exceptional control over pore size and product porosity, optimising inner pore accessibility whilst providing a carrier with exceptional physical properties.

Guard Bed Media
Low Pressure Drop Guard Media – MAGGUARD
Catalyst lifecycle is often not limited by catalyst activity, but by increased pressure drop. Increased pressure drop can lead to reduced production yields, early catalyst replacement and increased and costly shutdown periods.
MAGGUARD is a macroporous filter guard which prevents fouling of the catalyst bed.

MAGCAT is a highly geometric catalyst carrier available as rings or fluted rings.
At porosities greater than 75% the pores are fully interconnected. This allows fluid flow-through and offers significant enhancement to catalyst activity and a reduction in pressure drop.
Advanced Catalyst Carrier – TURBOCAT
This premium range of advanced geometric shapes is tailored to the customer’s requirements.
TURBOCAT carriers have outstanding physical properties with uniquely high geometric surface areas, which is unattainable using traditional extrusion techniques.
Whilst available in many chemical compositions, when made using >99.6% Alpha Alumina it has excellent attrition resistance and high mechanical strength.
