In the past year, Magma Vietnam have completed their first container and float glass projects. This concludes a successful transfer of skills and knowledge from our UK operations in order to offer our customers the same quality products at a more competitive price.

Establishing these standards is a core element to all of Magma’s sites. These standards, in combination with real time process data capture systems are allowing Magma to improve on a weekly basis.
Reforming Catalyst Collaboration
I am very pleased to announce that Magma Ceramics and Catalyst are now working with G. W. Aru, LLC who are helping to develop and support the market for our new and innovative patent pending Steam Methane Reforming (SMR) catalyst.

Magma has taken reforming catalysts back to first principles beginning with the carrier support and have executed a four-year multifaceted development program to examine and improve all properties impacting SMR catalyst performance. The result is a catalyst which provides:
- A significantly stronger and higher porosity carrier
- Carrier manufacturing with large flexibility in shape and surface texture design
- Significantly higher GSA and activity
- Ability to optimize nickel loading and placement
- Anti-carbon carrier with novel promotion eliminating corrosive potash usage
- Ability to custom manufacture for specific applications, tube layering and unique requirements of individual tubes in the SMR
The resulting benefits are:
- Increased reforming efficiency
- Smaller, lower capital-cost SMR designs for equivalent throughput
- Reduced pressure drop, longer life reducing change out frequency and potential to equal tube life in some applications
- Significantly reduced catalyst cost per volume of gas reformed
- Applicable, compatible and easily usable in all primary and secondary reforming applications
- Elimination of downstream corrosion and fouling issues possible with other manufacturers’ conventionally promoted catalysts
These are achieved with pelleted catalysts that are the same from a handling and loading perspective as currently used, including the ability to use in-tube temperature probes, but significantly advanced from a technology perspective. This eliminates the need for significantly more expensive, complex and difficult to use technologies (e.g., metal foils) proposed by others to achieve just some of these results.

ETC manufacture fibrous shapes which are used in applications demanding high temperature integrity together with dependable insulation properties.
This acquisition expands and is synergistic to the refractory shapes product range currently manufactured by Magma Ceramics.

Magma is delighted to announce that its manufacturing facility in Vietnam has successfully gained ISO 9001:2008, ISO 14001 and BS OHSAS 18001:2007 certification.
After months of hard work by the local team in Vietnam lead by Ngo Binh, with support from the UK head office, Magma Ceramics & Catalysts Vietnam now holds certification from BSI to ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001. This marks a clear commitment by the company to ensure the same high standards of quality, environmental and health and safety management are applied at all of our sites
The achievement of this latest accreditation is testament to Magma’s robust processes and demonstrates the company’s commitment to providing its customers with the highest levels of quality.
Magma now holds ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 at all four of its manufacturing sites.

Following on from its construction of a precision ceramics manufacturing facility near Hanoi in Vietnam in 2014 Magma is significantly expanding its productive capacity with the installation of a new high temperature kiln.
The kiln will be operational in November 2015 and will triple the sites capacity.
